BEHIND THE ESSAY

There’s a tension I always feel when writing about concepts like gratitude.

Not in the idea itself — but in how easily it can sound resolved when it isn’t.

Because in reality, most of what I wrote in the essay came from a much less settled place than it might appear on the surface.

I didn’t arrive at those thoughts cleanly.

And I was careful not to make it sound like I did.
